This traditional Welsh miners terrace cottage is situated in the peaceful, picturesque village of Talysarn, in the heart of Snowdonia.
The coast is a 15 minute drive away as is the foot of Snowdon, the highest mountain in England and Wales. 9 miles away lies the historic town of Caernarfon with its beautiful castle, where in 1284 Edward I presented his first born son as the first Prince of Wales. All investitures of subsequent Princes of Wales including Prince Charles have taken place here.
Also in easy reach are the popular destinations of Beddgelert, Pwllheli, Portmadoc and Anglesey.
The cottage, which sleeps 6, was completely renovated in 2007 and provides a high level of comfort with brand new furniture and fittings throughout.
The accommodation consists of the following:
A parking space in front of the cottage provides parking for one car. Extra off road parking is available opposite the cottage.
A small porch houses pegs for hanging outdoor coats.
The lounge area contains two sofas and two extra armchairs as required. Gas central heating is installed throughout the cottage, but a gas fire in the lounge area provides extra warmth and cosiness. There is a colour television and DVD player. The dining area has a pine dining table with 6 coordinating chairs.
A large, spacious kitchen accommodates a washing machine, dryer, dish washer, electric hob and oven, microwave and fridge with small freezer compartment. There are ample work tops and cupboard space.
Leading off from the kitchen is a small back garden with a lawn and shrubbery.
On the landing is a wardrobe offering hanging and drawer storage.
At the front of the house is a large bedroom with twin beds and coordinating chest of drawers, double wardrobe (with full length mirror), bedside tables and wicker chair.
A cosy room with double bed, high chest of drawers and bedroom chair. The wardrobe on the landing provides hanging storage.
Room with bunk beds, chest of drawers and chair.
This modern bathroom consists of a toilet, basin, bath and electric shower and bathroom storage furniture.
Duvets and pillows are provided for all beds but visitors are requested to bring their own household linen i.e. bed linen, towels, tea towels etc.
Electricity is payable by meter with £1 coins. The electricity meter is found in the porch.
Gas is also payable by meter with £1 coins. The gas meter is located inside the corner cabinet in the lounge area.
Simple provisions (including milk and bread) are obtainable from Talysarn Post Office, a short walk from the cottage.
The neighbouring village of Penygroes (5 minutes by car) has a supermarket, pubs, several take-away restaurants, banks and an assortment of shops.
In order to keep our letting rates as low as possible for our guests, we do not provide a cleaning service. We therefore kindly ask our visitors to thoroughly clean the cottage on their departure in preparation for the next intake of visitors.
Pets are allowed on the condition that they stay in the downstairs area and do not go upstairs (or on the furniture of course!).
North Wales provides an array of activities to suit all interests and ages, too numerous to mention here! A file containing information on activities for children, restaurants, walks, train and boat trips, to mention but a few, is available at the cottage for your reference.
If you would like to do some advance research, www.visitwales.co.uk is one of many websites highlighting attractions in the area.
